As part of my final university degree towards my Photography BA (hons), I have embarked on a documentative journey into HS2 and its impact on the environment and the people impacted. Using my many years experience in mapping skills and help from Ordnance Survey I have began to establish a photographic journey from point A on phase one of HS2- Euston, to Point B, Birmingham. Along the way, capturing the places and the emotion, before they're lost forever.

The Images below, form part of my showcase of images, captured over 6 days from the length of the route, starting as the Chiltern Tunnel is set to emerge in Great Missenden and following the line up to Kenilworth, near Coventry. These images show lands that are set to be forever changed. Commonly, images show the landscaper where the line is set to penetrate straight through the middle of the frame. Other images, show houses and business, once peaceful country homes passed through generations, now set to be destroyed to make way for the line.

The aim of this work is to document the land, so future generations can look back and see how the land once stood. However, this work also serves a purpose in current day, to show people the sacrifices being made to the environment and the impact the project it has.

A more in depth archive of images can be found HERE which contains over 100 images, broken down by location. I plan to continue this project, far into the future, to document the changes the landscape undergoes and the impact of HS2.
